Our first electric truck starts rolling on public roads

A valuable learning period starts now. The world's heaviest electric truck has been delivered to the Boliden Area. It will transport ore between Renström and the concentrator in Boliden, and this will be our first steps to electrify our ore transports on public roads in Västerbotten county.

Initially, the focus will lie on optimizing the routes, and of course evaluate how the truck performs in the Nordic winter conditions.

Daniel Olsén, project leader

- Now we are going to put it to use and analyze the data. I think it’s extremely exciting, says Daniel Olsén, project leader.

Inauguration and test runs

When the truck arrived, the Boliden Area arranged an inauguration. First, the project was presented briefly. After that the visitors got the opportunity to go on short test runs with the truck.

Stefan Romedahl, President Boliden Mines and Tony Sandberg Director Scania Pilot Partner, inaugurates the electric truck.

The project is a part of REEL, Regional Electrified Logistics, an initiative lead by CLOSER and supported by the programme Fordonsstrategisk forskning och Innovation (FFI) to pave the way for the transition to an electrified freight transport in the Swedish market.
