Disclosure relating to Boliden's compliance with GISTM

In addition to following the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) developed by ICMM, UNEP and PRI, Boliden also follows the SASB-standard (EM-MM-540a.1-3) as well as national standards such as the Swedish GruvRIDAS. To comply with all the above, Boliden is obliged to make information on each tailings facility under its control publicly available. Depending on each tailings facility’s consequence classification, the extent of this information may vary.

Boliden is fully committed to the GISTM standard and well underway to implement its 77 requirements. While some areas still are in progress at Aitik and Kevitsa, so are efforts to meet the requirements at remaining facilities which is due in 2025.

Below table shows general information on all operated tailings facilities within Boliden Mines. Note that some of the inactive tailings facilities are related to closed mine sites. For more detailed information, see the site-specific reports via the links in the table, which are reviewed annually.

A summary of the tailings management system, related governance structure and approach to develop Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans (EPRPs) will be found on this link.
