A zinc product from our own mines with a low carbon footprint and a product from secondary materials.
Zinc products with a low carbon footprint
We mine Boliden's Low-Carbon Zinc in our own mines, and it is refined at our smelters with good access to fossil-free energy. The product's total greenhouse gas emissions is maximum 1 kg CO2e per produced kg metal, which can be compared with the industry average of approximately 3.6 kg. Our Recycled Zinc is a 100% recycled product from our smelters in Odda and Kokkola.

By shifting our intensity targets to absolute targets for 2030, we are now even closer to achieving our goal of setting the industry benchmark.

Our Low-Carbon Zinc have among the lowest carbon footprints compared to all other refined zinc in the world. Because we challenge ourselves to reduce emissions throughout every step of our value chain to achieve our own ambitious climate targets, we are very proud of our Green Transition Metals portfolio. Our ambition is to develop the portfolio further.
