Boliden Tara Mines Sponsorship Programme

At Boliden Tara Mines, we produce the metals essential for the development of society for future generations.

We are committed to making a meaningful, visible contribution to the communities in which we operate. Through our Sponsorship Programme, we aim to support initiatives that deliver real impact for local people.

For us, sponsorship is about collaboration and action. More important than logos is how the results of our partnerships are reflected in the everyday lives of communities — and how we share those outcomes together.

Purpose of the Programme

The purpose of this programme is to:

  • Support community, environmental, recreational, and educational initiatives
  • Enhance the quality of life in our local area
  • Contribute positively to communities impacted by our operations
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with local organisations

What We Support

We prioritise initiatives that benefit children and young people, with additional focus on:

  • Hobby and competitive activities for children and youth
  • Local events and community initiatives
  • Schools and educational partnerships
  • Student organisations relevant to our industry
  • Clubs, teams, and non-profit organisations
  • Projects that benefit the local community and environment

What We Do Not Support

We do not provide funding for:

  • Individuals
  • Religious or political activities
  • National fundraising campaigns
  • For-profit businesses or commercial activities
  • Retrospective funding (projects already started or completed)

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a club, organisation, school, or community group
  • Be located within [DEFINE AREA – e.g. X km radius of Navan / see map] OR demonstrate clear benefit to this area
  • Operate on a non-profit basis
  • Provide evidence of community benefit

For projects:

At least 2 official quotes required

All quotes must:

  • Be on headed paper
  • Clearly relate to the proposed project

Partnership & Collaboration Expectations

Successful applicants are expected to engage in a mutually beneficial partnership.

This may include:

  • Demonstrating how the funding benefits the community
  • Participating in joint storytelling or communications activities
  • Exploring opportunities for employee or community engagement
  • Providing updates, photos, or case studies of the project. These materials may be used by Boliden Tara Mines across its corporate communications channels, including its website, social media, internal communications and promotional materials. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that appropriate consent has been obtained from any individuals identifiable in the photographs.
  • Complete outcomes report – in the appendices - once the funded project or activity is finished.

We value genuine collaboration and visibility of outcomes over branding alone.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted via the online application form during the designated application periods.

  • Applications by phone or email will not be accepted
  • Incomplete applications will be deemed invalid
  • Multiple applications from the same organisation are not permitted
  • A joint application is encouraged where relevant

Application periods:

  • Round 1: Opens August 21st ,Closes September 30th
  • Round 2: Opens February 1st | Closes March 10th

Assessment Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Community benefit and impact
  • Alignment with programme priorities
  • Feasibility and clarity of the proposal
  • Value for money
  • Evidence of need and supporting fundraising efforts

Key Conditions

  • Applications must be submitted before any expenditure is incurred
  • A group will generally not receive funding for the same purpose more than once in a 12-month period
  • Evidence of other funding sources must be provided
  • Applicants must ensure their tax affairs are in order
  • Applicants must submit a Project Outcome Report at the completion of the project.

Decision Process

  • Applications are reviewed by the Boliden Tara Mines Committee
  • Additional information may be requested where necessary
  • Late applications will not be considered

Applicants will receive a response within 8 weeks after the closing date.

Programme Governance

  • The committee reserves the right to amend the terms of the scheme at its discretion
  • Decisions are final and made in line with programme objectives and available budget
