Sulphuric acid

We produce sulphuric acid and sulphur dioxide of the highest industrial quality.

The world’s most used chemical

Sulphuric acid is one of the most widely used chemicals in the world. It is a strongly corrosive, colorless, and viscous liquid with a variety of applications. It plays an important role in processes within industries such as fertilizers, pulp and paper production. For example, it can be used to lower the pH value in fertilizers or as a bleaching agent in paper manufacturing. Sulphuric acid can be produced in various ways. Boliden’s sulphuric acid is produced during the purification of gases from our smelting processes and has a very high climate performance.

Our statement on our product CO2 footprint

The mining industry lacks a standardized measurement method for carbon dioxide emissions - we want to change that. We believe transparency is the only way to a sustainable and long-term mining and metals industry. We make the life-cycle assessments of our main metals from cradle to gate, without counting carbon credits and offsets. It improves our possibilities to see in which scope we need to make efforts to reduce our carbon dioxide footprint. In this way, we will achieve our vision of being the world's most climate-friendly and respected metal supplier in the world.
