Following is a short summary of the smelters' different needs of raw materials:
Boliden Kokkola's main raw material is zinc sulphide concentrate. The majority of the concentrate comes from Boliden's own mines in Sweden and Ireland, but concentrate is also purchased from other mining companies, mainly in Europe and South and North America.
The most important raw materials at Boliden Odda are zinc concentrate for zinc production and Aluminium Hydrate and Fluorspar for the production of Aluminium Fluoride.
Currently the smelter obtains all its raw materials overseas, and most of them are shipped from Boliden's mines in Sweden and Ireland.
Rönnskär takes deliveries of copper and lead concentrates from Boliden's own mines on a daily basis. In addition to this, Rönnskär receives concentrates from external sources on a regular basis. An essential part of the raw material feed is also secondary raw materials, mainly electronic scrap.
Boliden Harjavalta's metal concentrates are coming overseas to the port of Pori from copper mines all over the world, e.g. Europe and South America. The share of the locally procured concentrates is approximately 10 per cent.
Boliden Bergsöe is Scandinavia's only lead recycling company and takes delivery of approximately 65,000 tonnes of lead batteries every year. This corresponds to around 4,000,000 batteries, from which approximately 45,000 tonnes of recycled secondary lead is produced.
