By running this campaign we want to raise awareness among Skellefteå residents about the importance of recycling metals.
Metals can be recycled over and over again without losing any quality. By handing in old electronics instead of leaving them lying around in the garage, each and every one of us can contribute towards a more sustainable society. Recycling means scrap can be turned into new metals in new electronic and electric products, such as mobile phones or computers.Skellefteå AIK Hockey's supporters can hand in their old mobile phones in the collection boxes placed in the respective stairwells in the Skellefteå Kraft Arena. These boxes will premier at the Skellefteå AIK – HV 71 match, Thursday, 18th November.
The mobile phones will be collected, pre-processed and then recycled in an eco-friendly way at the Rönnskär plant. The smelter is already one of the world's leading players in this industry. Furthermore, a SEK 1.3 billion expansion project that will triple capacity is in progress. The expansion is due to be completed by year-end 2011/2012, and will make Rönnskär the world's largest recycling plant for electronic scrap.
