Rönnskär

Rönnskär is one of the world's most efficient copper smelters and a world-leader in the recycling of copper and precious metals from electronic scrap. It is Boliden's largest unit and the dominating private workplace in the region.

At Rönnskär copper and lead concentrates from Boliden´s own mines and external mines is smelt and refined. The smelter is an integrated metallurgical complex, which extracts high-purity metals at low cost and with good environmental performance. The main products, that are quality approved on the London Metal Exchange, are copper, zinc clinker, lead and precious metals, and its by-products include sulphuric acid.

Rönnskär´s kaldo and fuming plants also enable it to complement its copper production with the recycling of metals from electronic scrap and other secondary materials, and has for many years been one of the world´s biggest recyclers of electronic scrap. New investments now provide the opportunity to increase the capacity of recycling even furter.

Rönnskär has approximately 768 employees.
