Zero accident philosophy
All employees within Boliden embrace the zero accident philosophy and put safety first on the agenda. We believe that one accident is one too many. It means that we always do everything necessary to avoid any kind of injury to persons or uncontrolled impact to the environment.
Continual improvements
Risks need to be identified, controlled, monitored and included in all applicable business decisions. Boliden systematically works with improvements and innovations in order to minimise use of natural resources, energy consumption and lessen climate change, as well as harmful impact on people, air, soil, water and landscape. If damage occurs, we responsibly remediate and rehabilitate. EHS targets and action plans are an integrated part of the business plan.
Adherence
Boliden adheres to the legislation that applies in all of the countries in which we operate, although our own standards strive to always use best practice and go beyond legislative demands.
We shall be open towards our stakeholders and communicate our zero accident philosophy both internally and externally. We shall collaborate with authorities, suppliers and customers, concerning ways in which we can improve our processes to safeguarding people and their environment.
Every employee has an individual responsibility to keep EHS rules and regulations and to take immediate action if any EHS regulations are violated. Managers shall lead by example and promote a safety culture.
Training and awareness
Boliden employees shall receive training to be able to work safely and responsibly towards fellow workers and the environment, using the right methods and the right equipment. We aim to prevent work related illness and to promote health and work life balance among our work force by proactively increasing awareness of health factors and life style impact.
We shall use our knowledge and work creatively to turn challenges into competitive advantages.
